The intersection of Belvidere Road and Hwy. 173 has long been a nightmare for emergency response personnel. It has been a site of several fatal accidents. Stop signs were installed recently to make it a 4-way stop in hopes the accidents would stop. June 21, 2007 some one didn't stop when a semi crashed with a car at the intersection sending it into the ditch. The driver was able to get out before the car became fully involved with fire. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The semi driver was unhurt.
