Twenty soldiers with the Headquarters Company, 33rd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, arrived at the Machesney Park Armory from deployment in Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. They marched in under the Amercian flag that was hanging between Harlem-Roscoe Fire's two Quints.

Fifty nine soldiers from the Illinois National Guard Headquarters Company, 33rd Brigade Special Troops Battalion arrive at the Machesney Park Armory on September 19 after serving a year in Afghanistan. Harlem-Roscoe Fire Lt. Ramona Baldoni's son Ryker also was among them.
